Italy 2019 - Rome Day 4

After a repeat of yesterday’s breakfast (and a stocking up on pants and socks at the local H&M!), we headed to the Roman Forum, the heart of the ancient city of Rome. Apparently, it all used to be marshlands, which we found hard to believe given the heat!
On the way back to the hotel to freshen up, we had to stop for some ice cream at Grezzo again because it was so good!
In the afternoon, we wandered over to the Borghese Gallery where, to our delight, the cafe did vegan cakes. So we had a slice of chocolate cake and apple crumble with coffee.
Before taking in the gallery, we meandered through the gardens. To fit it all in, we hired an electric-powered pedal car (Ryan drove) and it was so much fun!
Ryan insisted on being photographed in front of the historic monuments in the car!
The gallery itself was interesting, too. Lots of tasteful nudes. We managed to sneak a few pictures, although you weren’t supposed to take photos.
For dinner, we headed to a 100% vegan buffet place called Ops! Unfortunately, you pay for the weight of food you consume, so we had to reign it in a little (although we still had seconds)! But it was delicious and we got to try several dishes, including gnocchi and cannelloni.
To round off our last day in Rome, we relaxed in the hotel room ready for the train to Florence tomorrow.
