Italy 2019 - La Spezia Day 7

Following pastries, coffee, and watermelon for breakfast, we picked up our hire car ready for our next destination, La Spezia/Cinque Terre! It was stressful driving through the very narrow streets of Florence to get out of the city, especially when you’re sitting on the wrong side of the car (thanks, Napoleon!). But once we hit the motorway, it was much easier.

We decided to stop off at Pisa to see the leaning tower and get some pizza at Pisa for lunch! Each pizza cost only 6 euros and was delicious!!

We arrived at our Airbnb in La Spezia at around 4:30PM. The apartment we are staying in is very spacious and our hosts left us lots of supplies and useful information about the town.

Once we’d freshened up (and put some washing on!), we strolled into La Spezia to explore the town. We found a place that did loads of different flavours of vegan gelato, and tried the pistachio, which was delicious! And we got a tub for 3 euros, the same amount of which had cost 9 euros in Florence!

We also walked down to the marina and had a drink at a bar called YOLO. The marina reminded us a lot of Carmel-by-the-Sea from our Honeymoon.

We then went back into the centre of town and had another drink. Ryan had a beer by a local brewery in La Spezia. We like it here because you get lots of complimentary snacks with your drinks!

Following that, we called in at a supermarket to get some food and a massive piece of watermelon (grown here in Italy)! Then we headed back to the apartment, where we cooked ourselves some pasta for a late supper.
