Italy 2019 - Venice Day 11

First thing this morning, we enjoyed watermelon for breakfast while taking in the epic view from our Airbnb one last time.

And, once we’d checked out and refuelled the car, we hunted down some more breakfast plus coffee at a spot called La Cremerie in Peschiera del Garda.

After all of that, we finally hit the road heading towards Venice, arriving around midday. We dropped the car off and then got the water taxi into the city centre. It was a bumpy ride!

Our hotel is the Palazzetto Madonna and is very nice! Its tucked away in a quiet corner right on the Rio de la Frescada canal.

First things first, we went to get some gelato! After that, we went for a walk along the promenade towards Giardinni della Biennale, which was a much more peaceful spot and away from all the tourist hotspots.

We then found a rooftop bar to look our over the promenade. Although it was expensive (8€ for water!), the views were lovely.

We wandered back through the windy streets - getting a little lost on the way! - to find a complimentary bottle of wine in our hotel room! So we had a glass of that and freshened up before heading out for our last night in Italy.

For dinner we found a nice spot to spend a couple of hours eating deep fried vegetables followed by two almighty pizzas. The perfect last meal! We then spent the rest of the evening walking off the pizzas and soaking up the atmosphere in and around the Rialto Bridge.

We should have just enough time in the morning to squeeze in one last gelato, but then we will be homeward bound.
